Welcome ,   we are so glad you've found us

ABOUT US

Our mission is to provide an accessible to all , friendly community sewing group, where we can get together and create beautiful things,

we open our doors  couple of times a month to sew.
If you are interested in joining a non-profit making group of very friendly sewers, you've come to the right place.

We have a Facebook Page and a Closed Facebook Group where we share our creations  and announce our sewing events.

We made our first reusable tote bag from some old curtains on our kitchen table !

We soon realised that by  giving away our bags freely we were starting up conversations about recycling and reducing single use plastic,  we joined the Boomerang family and our little sewing group was hatched.

We love sewing so much we wanted to encourage more people to enjoy this rewarding hobby, so we now hold regular sewing socials to spread the wonderful word of sewing

We use donated fabric that would have gone to landfill, and often we give our creations away freely, to friends, family and charities

If you'd like to find more about this initiative or set up your own sewing group, please feel free to contact us

Boomerang Bags

In 2013 Tania and Jordyn started a conversation about plastic.

They found how it was overflowing landfills, floating in the oceans, strangling marine life and causing all sorts of trouble. So what could be done about it?

The answer stared them in the face, from the one million plastic bags being used every minute, the 10.46 million of tonnes of fabric waste created each year, and the willingness and generosity of people from all fabrics of society to do something about it. They created a platform that supports the diversion of post-consumer material (waste) into reusable bags to replace plastic bags and most importantly, start conversations.

The initiative spread like wildfire, and is now in over 800 communities worldwide. Hundreds of thousands of plastic bags have been saved from landfill, and behaviour change went way beyond the bag to other single-use plastics and sustainable living. Not to mention the immeasurable social impact of the conversations, connections and new friendships created in the process!
Perhaps, it’s not about the plastic bag at all.
